Curious, Whetstone & Frankley is pleased to announce our new show, Feast, opening on 18 September. For Feast three artists – Lisa Firer, Marlise Keith and Karen Cronje – have created collections of porcelain “prayer flags”. Each artist brings intimate images of their personal world to their flags, expressed in a wealth of textures and layering which will emphasise the play between opaqueness and luminescence of the porcelain.

Working together, these three artists find ways to challenge and support each other's aesthetic evolution, in which they claim their fragility, their beauty and their legacy to create beauty. “We seem to understand our privilege to celebrate life. Porcelain, which is at the same time durable but also extremely fragile, circumscribes our fragile existence, and our journey to maturity.”

In our intimate back space, the Drawing Room, we display Lisa Firer's small candle cuffs (originally launched at Design Indaba 2008). Lisa has collected textures and patterns for 15 years, and has used them to create these beautiful tea lights. Come and play with a table-full and find your own special one.
